about this build

This machine started as a need that no off-the-shelf router could fill at a reasonable price point. The goal was a rigid, accurate machine capable of cutting aluminium at reasonable feed rates — something that most hobby CNCs can't do without chatter.

The entire assembly was designed in Onshape before a single part was purchased. Every bracket, extrusion length, and bearing mount was modelled and checked for clearances in the assembly. The drawing set was generated directly from the model. This is the first prototype — the design is still being iterated on.
